Oh, long weekend

Sorry for the overtly large delay in posting, guys. School's got me all wound up these days. Right now I'm studying for my Promotions mid-term, and after tomorrow I'll be a little more free.

But then I have my Teach for America interview on the 16th, so my freedom will be short-lived.

Anyway, just dropped by to say I love you guys! Whoever is reading this right now.. I'm praying for you. Always. All ways.

Stay holy.

God bless!

Carolina Prophet

Hey y'all! So I realize it's a little late to post this because I made the video last week and have already recited this poem for my class.. but I figured I'd share it anyway! This is just me being lame and bored and practicing a poem recitation for my fine arts class (no, I'm not a fine arts major). The poem is called Carolina Prophet and is the work of a poet by the name of Drew Dellinger.

Happy Sunday and enjoy!

Stay blessed

Rainday

Attention!

Okay, so for all you San Antonians out there: have you LOOKED outside your window today? I know! Rain. Seriously, I love it. I don't know why so many people on facebook are complaining about it, I love everything about the rain- the temperature, the wetness, the thunder, the lightning. It's just all so beautiful to me. Don't you agree?

Anyhow, along with rain comes the sudden urge to be nice and toasty and curl up with a mug of warm hot chocolate (or coffee, whatever does it for you). And you totally can! Do it! It's raining you guys, these are the days when it's okay to kick off the heels, ditch the hair product and makeup. Whether you're staying inside or out and about- ditch the glam and get comfy.

Here's what I wore today:
-Black crop leggings
-Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows tee (that's right, I'm a geek)
-Cream colored oversized cardigan
-Warm fuzzy Christmas socks (okay, they weren't visible with shoes, but they made me feel good)
-Brown buckle boots from F21

Also important to note:
-ZERO makeup
-Natural frizzy hair

And there you go. That's it. Leggings and cardigans can honestly get you through most rainy/cold weather. Closet STAPLES. Boots, too, really. I'm not really into the whole rainboot thing and, frankly, I don't advise you either. But I LOVE my brown non-rainboots, considering they're loads of comfort and cuteness. I'll probably post a picture later.

So there you have it. Rainy day essentials really just mean simplicity is best.

Also very important to note, I just finished watching October Baby and it is now one of my favorite films of all time! If you haven't seen it already, PLEASE go watch it. It's so special.

Until next time, you guys- stay blessed and pray strong.

But I do love you

So this is what love is, huh?

It's not that I never knew it or even that I never admitted it. But right now, at this very moment, I feel the most loved I have ever felt. I have felt the the incredible, unwavering love that my family has for me in times of despair; I have felt the sisterly love that my friends and I share walking freely across the campus parking lot laughing at the most embarrassing parts of our day; I have felt the simplest love for people in this world I will never fully know; I have felt the perfect, purest, most precious love that God has for me before I fall asleep at night. But never have I felt all these forms of love all at once. Today I am blessed enough to experience a wealth of love that I pray all of you feel every day of your lives.

And if you still can't feel it, then please know that I love you. I really do.
I love you even though you feel insecure, I love you even though you aren't sure what your purpose is, I love you even though you feel like you have enough love in your life, I love you even though you fail, I love you even though you have hurt others, I love you even though you lie, I love you even though you are a hypocrite, I love you even though you do not know God.

I love you even though you don't love yourself and I love you even though you don't love me.

But I do love you. Yes, I mean you. Each and every one of you.

You are not alone.

Stay blessed, brothas and sistas.

Bravery and Excitement

Hi all! Still have some carried-over excitement from FNO. Crazy, huh? Anyway, about to go see Brave (finally) with Michelle and Cindy (her younger sister). Also, we're probably going to sneak in food from Freddy's. Does that make us rebels? Please say yes. I know, I know. We DO think we're too cool.

So that's all for now! Just thought I'd post a quick update on my day.

Stay blessed and well-dressed.

FNO: Batch Two

Snagged a photo of these two because I just couldn't help but love their contrasting styles! Dots will always have a special place in my heart- and that watch is adorable. I also love the neutrals on the left with an accent neckline. Love the hair, too! Great job, ladies.

Also had to snag this one! Beautiful colors and a fresh take on more of what we will be seeing this fall. Love the gold accents and muted shoe tone. She was such a sweetheart, too! I did not get to catch her name, but she is a model. If anyone reading this is looking for some new talent, do contact me and I will relay the message!

The lovely Paulina and Jose. Favorite couple-friends! They were wonderful enough to attend FNO with Michelle and I and equally had a blast. Don't they look amazing?! Classy and in love. What a perfect combination.

First off, this girl was super sweet! She's a model and attends the University of Texas @ Austin, so she had to travel a little ways to attend FNO. Dress: gorgeous! Jewelry: gorgeous!

A little blurry, but I loved her simplicity.. and that bag!

And those shoes!

Michelle

Had to capture this setup. I love the mix of bold and subtle.

Anxiously awaiting the NM fashion show!

Met up with fellow fashion blogger Leslie Arnold of A Blog About Everything

These two ladies encompassed my favorite ensembles of the night. Love that hair accent!

Fashion's Night Out SA was a night of excitement, inspiration, new trends and new friends. I can't wait to really delve further into this Fall and begin seeing some fabulous trend pieces that give a nod to all the collections seen throughout FNO. I met so many amazing people and saw so many incredible takes on style and inspiration. Definitely can't wait for next year!

Thank you to Neiman Marcus for inviting me to take photos and report from the red carpet and fashion shows some of the hottest trends this Fall! It was such a blast.
